Revelation

His Words are Eternal

One night last week I was sitting in the quiet and had my mind on the Lord. He dropped this verse in my heart. Luke 21:33 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” The Passion Translation says it this way: “Earth and sky will wear out and fade away before one word I speak loses its power or fails to accomplish its purpose.”

I have been chewing on this verse since then. His words are eternal. That means they never lose their value. They never lose their efficacy. They never become irrelevant, regardless of the time one is living in. They never lose their potency. He has the words of life. Think about it – He said His creation will pass away, but His words will never die. That means we can apply them to our life at any time, in any situation, by faith, because they are alive and eternal.

I was thinking about what the Bible says about the curse and the blessing in regard to their side effects. The side effects of the curse are sickness, poverty, fear, bondage, sin, confusion, among other things. Remember it was Jesus that said in John 10:10 that “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” All the things related to the curse involve some form of lack or destruction or death. We can know something is part of the curse when we see its results – death. Don’t confuse the curse and the blessing.

The blessing includes health, safety, preservation, prosperity, freedom, peace, the hand of God upon your life, welfare and well-doing. It means things just work. You don’t spin your wheels and get nowhere but the work of your hand is blessed and accomplishes things.

Jesus BECAME a curse for us so we would be redeemed from its wrath (Galatians 3:13). He said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b). What if our meditation was fixed on what it looks like to have His quality of life and the abundant life, He came to give us? What if we were blessing minded instead of curse minded? What if we took His word and boldly declared it in our life and watched the darkness and the curse retreat?

If His words are eternal that means they carry as much weight today as they did when they were originally spoken. His words in my mouth are as powerful as His words in His mouth. He used His words against the curse when He was on the earth. He stopped deadly storms that were threatening Him and the disciples, with His words. He healed the sick with His words. He set demoniacs free with His words. He loved the unlovely with His words. Look at the possibilities!

The Lord gave us His eternal words for a reason. It wasn’t just to record them in the Bible as something He said thousands of years ago. It was so that we would take them, use them, walk in them and have their results – His promise of the blessing in our lives.

Meditating on the curse and its effects will not bring life. Don’t go the way of the world. Meditate on the blessing of God in your life and His indwelling presence. Open your mouth and declare what He has said about your life and future. 2 Corinthians 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke”, we also believe and therefore speak. Faith speaks.

If He has said some specific things to you but you’ve let them slip, just go back and pick them up. Put them in your mouth again today – no matter how long it has been. His words are eternal – they do not expire. Stir yourself up once again with His promises.

He will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

He heals all your diseases. He redeems your life from destruction. He crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Psalm 103:3-4

He took your infirmities, impairments, and bore your sicknesses. Matthew 8:17

You are healed in Jesus’ Name.

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10

  • “Saved” here is the Greek word, sozo (Strong’s G4982), which means to save, to keep safe and sound, to heal, to rescue, to deliver, to preserve. This verse is one of my personal favorites!

You are a new creation in Christ. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. Today is a new day! 2 Corinthians 5:17

He has delivered you from the power and authority of darkness and conveyed you into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Colossians 1:13

Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Luke 12:7

In Him, you are accepted and have already obtained an inheritance. Ephesians 1:6, 11

You are in Him and He is in you, and the Father has loved you as He loved Jesus. Wow! John 17:23

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things. Romans 8:32

You were bought at a price – by the blood of Jesus!

The blessing is for you today.
