The Resurrection

This is Easter weekend, and this is a resurrection message. Many of you reading this are already saved, but I was inspired to post this today to bring encouragement to some and stir us up to remember what happened on this day. Please share this with others and especially with ones that don’t know Jesus as their Lord yet.

Sunday (April 20, 2025) is Resurrection Day. It is the greatest day in history! It is the day that made a way for you and me to be born-again, to receive eternal life, to have a living relationship with the One true, living God! It is the day that changed it all. Easter is the day we celebrate our Risen Savior, Jesus Christ. His life, His death, and His resurrection are worthy to be celebrated every day of the year. You can read about His death and resurrection in the last few chapters of each of the books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Bible.

Jesus is the only way to the Father, God (John 14:6). There is no other name or person by which one can be saved. It is Jesus and Jesus alone.

When Jesus gave up His spirit on the cross and breathed His last breath, the scripture tells us that the earth quaked (Matthew 27:51). The earth responded to His death! I am so moved by that statement. The earth, and its inanimate objects responded to Jesus’ death. That is the event that caused many people who were standing by and watching Him die to fear greatly and say “Truly, this was the Son of God!” (Matthew 27:54). This was more than just a man they crucified. He was and is the Son of God!

At His death, the veil in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The veil represented the barrier between the holy place in the temple and the most holy place where God’s presence dwelt. Only the priests were able to go behind the veil to present the sacrifices of the people once a year for their sin and talk to God on the people’s behalf. The removal of the veil means we no longer need a priest or anyone else to go to God on our behalf. God ripped that veil in half signifying there is no more separation, no more barrier, no more need for the sacrifices of the blood of bulls and goats for the remission of the sins of the people.

Jesus became that sacrifice for you and me. He gave His body and laid down His life as the sacrifice for all sin. His blood was the only sacrifice for sin that ever needs to be made, for the rest of time. (See Hebrews 10:10-14 and Romans 6:7-10). Now that He became our sacrifice, and once we have received Him, we can come boldly to the throne room of God (Hebrews 4:16, Hebrews 10:19-20, Ephesians 3:11-12). No more barrier. No more separation. We have been invited to come sit with our Father in heaven, talk to Him, be in His presence, and receive His grace.

The scripture says the sin of not believing on Jesus, the Son of God, is the sin that the world will be convicted of (John 8:24, John 16:7-9). There is much sin in the world. But the main thing He came to save us from is the sin of unbelief that we need a Savior and that He is the One. We all need a Savior! We are NOT OK without Him.

If you will call out to God, you will be saved. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Saved from what? Saved from eternal separation from the Lord. Saved from a life of sin. Saved from death and hell. When you give your life to the Lord and you receive His life in you, you become spiritually alive. His resurrected life becomes the source of your life.

You and I will live forever. Yes, our bodies will die someday, but our spirits live on forever. What many people don’t understand is that when they slip out of their body, there is no more opportunity to make a choice. You either go directly to heaven or directly to hell. The choice we make to call Jesus the Lord of our lives can only be made here – NOT after we die. I’m not talking about a choice to just live a moral life. I’m talking about bowing your knee to Jesus, the Son of God, and saying out loud, Jesus, I need You! I believe You are the Son of God who died for my sin and You rose from the dead. I repent of my sins, and I make You the Lord of my life. Come live in me and change me from the inside out. In the name of Jesus, Amen!  (Romans 10:9-10).

If you just prayed that, please send me an email. I’d love to celebrate with you and pray for you!

What does resurrection mean? It means a rising again, to bring something back to life. I want to encourage you all today to meditate on what resurrection means. What needs to be resurrected in your life? What needs to come alive again? I’m tempted to list a bunch of things this could apply to, but you apply it to your situation. Ask the Lord what needs to be resurrected in your life. Let Him fill you again with the hope that has faded.

Live the resurrected life! The Lord wants to take us higher than we’ve ever been before.

I pray your Easter is filled with the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in all areas of your life and family!
