I am pondering faith today. I was reading Hebrews chapter 11 this morning and I was inspired by these words. Hebrews 11:3 (NLT) By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.
I wrote this down. What do you want to see? It will come from things that cannot be seen.
Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
Faith shows the reality…
Faith is not a stagnant belief.
Faith is not vague.
Faith is not generic.
Faith – real Bible faith – is intentional. It is focused. It is active. It believes something and therefore it is persuaded to act a certain way, to say certain things, and to think a certain way, according to what it believes.
How is it that people are saved? They believe in what the Lord, Jesus did for them. It is that simple. It is a spiritual impossibility for a person to be saved by having faith in their own goodness or work. Faith in your own faith will not produce a result. It is only through faith in what the Lord has already provided or what He has promised that will produce results.
Faith works. Not only does it produce something, but faith actually works. It does not sit on a shelf inactive. Faith brings things into being.
Faith overrides the natural senses. Faith sees something. Faith is a choice and is within our control.
The Lord asked me one time, “what do you really believe,” about a certain situation in my life. I took the time to examine my heart and answer that question for myself and then for the Lord. The result of that examination produced something I deeply desired – a baby. He helped me get to what I really believed and identify the source of my faith. It was Him all along.
Be intentional with your faith. Find a promise from God, meditate on it, see yourself having it, and then release your faith for it.
