Hello!
Welcome to my blog, Revelation from Jesus.
I have used the word “revelation” on purpose because it unveils something not previously seen. Think about pulling back the curtain in a dark room at sunrise. Once you pull back the curtain, it lets the light into the room. It reveals what was previously obscured, allowing visibility of things that were once hidden. The word “revelation” is a revealing of truth which God has prepared for us.
Numerous times I have found myself reading my Bible and receiving insight from the Lord on a particular scripture or account in Jesus’ ministry. As He illuminates certain nuances or points, I start to search the scriptures to find other truths that line up and back up what the Lord is showing me. As He leads me to scripture after scripture, He reveals light, and things begin to grow on the inside. I get excited to keep searching for deeper truths.
The whole point of truth is that you can experience what that truth reveals. For example, if you know the truth that Jesus came to give you life and life more abundantly (John 10:10), when you have a revelation of this, you won’t settle for less than this promise of abundant life. You must first know the truth, before the truth can set you free (John 8:32).
This blog is about light. It is about revelation. It is about insight. My hope is that as you read this, it will cause you to think differently, and that you will want to go deeper in the scriptures, deeper in faith, and deeper in your relationship with the Lord.
Have you ever read your Bible and found yourself just “going through the motions”? Have you ever just read it from a surface level without allowing it to enlighten you?
Yah, me too.
But what I have discovered is “going through the motions” won’t bring revelation. Ask the Lord to enlighten your understanding and open the scriptures up to you. I like to remind Him when I read my Bible that His word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105). I remind Him that His word is life and health to my flesh (Proverbs 4:22). I remind Him that His word is seed that I am putting into the ground of my heart and as I sow the seed of His word, it grows in me and uproots the junk (see Mark chapter 4). I remind Him that His word is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12).
Jesus said “He who feeds on Me will live because of Me” (John 6:57). The word live in the Greek is the word zao (Strong’s G2198). It can be translated to live, breathe, be among the living (not lifeless, not dead) to enjoy real life active, blessed, endless in the kingdom of God. I have used this verse as my barometer for whether I am feeding on the Lord. At times I’ll ask myself if I am enjoying real life, active and blessed. If not, I start by examining what I have been feeding on and what I have been letting roll around in my thoughts and heart.
I encourage you today to examine the outcome of this word live (zao). To enjoy real life, active, blessed, endless in the kingdom of God. Is that a picture of your life? It can be! Feed on Him and let Him paint a picture of the real life, active and blessed that He designed for you to live.
There is a principle that has helped me time and time again as I consider how profound it is. Feed the things you want to live and starve the things you want to die. Simple, right? Do you have thoughts, doubts, patterns, habits that you want to die? Starve them. Feed the things you want to continue living and let them grow – God’s thoughts, your faith, patterns, habits.
Not every victory in life is tied to a huge change we need to make. A lot of things are just little tweaks that will produce great change once implemented.
Feed on the Lord, feed on His word (truth!), feed on His faithfulness, feed on His love, feed on His promises, and feed on His goodness.
I pray that the Lord will enlighten you as you feed on this today.
Excellent word!
